Transport and logistics in Saudi Arabia are being expanded and reorganized to support trade flows, industrial development, and the Kingdom’s ambition to position itself as a global logistics hub.

 

This is reflected in the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, alongside investment across ports, rail, aviation, and logistics zones. Saudi Arabia has improved its position in global logistics performance rankings, while a growing network of logistics centers and expanding port and air cargo capacity are reinforcing its role as a regional trade and distribution hub.

 

The sector is increasingly organized around corridors linking ports, rail networks, airports, and logistics platforms with industrial zones, economic cities, and international trade routes.

 

At the same time, delivery is distributed across multiple entities. National authorities define strategy and regulatory frameworks, operators manage ports and airports, developers expand infrastructure, and private logistics providers handle freight movement and distribution across the network.

 

Demand is shaped by manufacturing, e-commerce, and large-scale developments, each placing different requirements on speed, capacity, and connectivity across the system.

 

As infrastructure expands across multiple modes and locations, greater emphasis is placed on how these components connect—across ports, rail, road, and logistics platforms—as trade flows and industrial activity continue to evolve.

 

System performance—reliability, efficiency, and connectivity—is increasingly linked to how effectively these elements operate together across the network, rather than within individual assets.
